Churchill Downs Opening Day: October 30, 2016

The Green Sheet finished out the 2016 Keeneland Fall Meet with a flourish, giving out five winners on a 10-race, closing day program highlighted by a cold $158.20 superfecta in the day’s opener. The Sheet finished the Keeneland meet 29-for-140 with winning selections on top, hitting at a 21 percent strike rate.

The Sheet will be available for the 21-day fall meet at Churchill Downs; additionally I’ll provide a full-card analysis of both Breeder’s Cup programs coming up this weekend at Santa Anita.

Churchill Downs kicks off its 2016 Fall Meet with an emphasis on the juveniles, as Sunday’s “Stars of Tomorrow I” program features a 10-race card comprised solely of two-year-old races.

A pair of $80,000 stakes—the Rags To Riches for fillies and the Street Sense for colts—in addition to the inaugural running of the unique $300,000 restricted Spendthrift Stallion Stakes are in the spotlight on opening day.
