As the Breeder’s Cup card provides horse players with the best value to be had at the windows at the races all year, I’ve decided to give out a few longshot plays for Saturday’s Breeder’s Cup card at Santa Anita rather than hammer out a full-card analysis.
My Breeder’s Cup selections took a bit of a beating yesterday in Arcadia, but one thing I learned from watching the card is that speed rules, both on the main track and the turf course.
The nine-race Breeder’s Cup card could shape up to be pretty chalky with the likes of Flintshire, Tepin, and California Chrome on the card, so I’ll give you three live longshot plays to give you bang for your buck:
LIMOUSINE LIBERAL: Twinspires Breeder’s Cup Sprint (G1)—He got beat a dirty nose by top East Coast sprinter A.P. Indian in his last start and figures to stalk a blistering pace; 15-1 on the morning line.
DA BIG HOSS: Longines Breeder’s Cup Turf (G1)—He has won five of six turf starts this year and is 20-1 on the morning line. He split the field in this race last year at 60-1 and has a reliable closing kick.
TOURIST: Breeder’s Cup Mile (G1)—Son of Tiznow’s effort in the Shadwell Mile (G1) was compromised by a rough trip. He should get clear sailing stalking the pace from the five-hole in this spot; 15-1 on the morning line.
