Saturday’s 11-race program at Churchill Downs is highlighted by the 43rd running of the $100,000 Cardinal Handicap (G3), which drew a full field of 13 fillies and mares, three-years-old and upward.
Cash Control, a graded stakes winner in the past on the grass in Louisville, is the 7-2 morning line favorite in the nine-furlong turf test.
Co-featured on the program is the ninth running of the $80,000 Bet On Sunshine Stakes for three-year-olds and upward going six furlongs on the main track.
The race drew a field of nine headlined by 8-5 morning line favorite Holy Boss, who is dropping out of Grade 1 stakes company, and the consistent Alsvid, who loves Churchill Downs and has finished in the money in nine of 10 starts this year.
Additionally, the program showcases a $126,630, 14-day carryover in the Single Six Jackpot, a multi-race wager that begins with race six on Saturday’s program.
The Green Sheet gave out two winners on Friday’s card in Louisville–Bella Veloche ($4.60) in the first race and Raising Rumors ($3.40) in the fourth. The Sheet also doped out a cold $74.30 superfecta in the fourth race. For the meet, The Green Sheet is 34-for-142, hitting at a 24 percent win clip.
