The Sheet Closes Churchill Meet With 25% Winners; Claiming Crown Next

The Green Sheet gave out four winners–Sardinia ($2.80) in the second race, Rod McLeod ($3.30) in the fifth, Mav ($10.80) in the sixth, and Iron Fist ($3.40) in the 10th race–on the final live racing program at Churchill Downs for 2016 on Sunday, November 27. Additionally, The Sheet gave out a pair of trifectas–a $130.40 model in the eighth race and one of the $443.60 variety in the ninth on the program. For the 21-day 2016 Fall Meet at Churchill Downs, The Green Sheet had 54 winners from 221 races, a 25 percent win clip.

Over the winter, The Sheet will focus on weekend spot plays in graded stakes races but will continue to give out a full-card analysis and selections for big racing days at selected meets.

This weekend, the blog will focus its attention on the 2016 Claiming Crown, which opens Gulfstream Park’s Championship Meet on Saturday, December 3; full-card analysis and selections for the Claiming Crown program will be available on Friday, December 2 by noon (Eastern).

Additionally, I’ll give out a pair of free spot plays on December 3 — one in the $300,000 Hollywood Derby (G1) for three-year-olds going long on the weeds at Del Mar and the other in the $50,000 Holiday Inaugural Stakes, which kicks off the 2016 Holiday Meet at Turfway Park. I’ll finish up the weekend with a spot play in Sunday’s $300,000 Matriarch Handicap (G1), a prestigious eight-furlong turf heat at Del Mar for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward.

In closing, a special thanks is in order to all those who followed the blog, retweeted and liked posts and were kind enough to pass along positive word-of-mouth reviews. I hope that you were able to use my handicapping to your benefit, leading to a profitable, positive experience. Thanks again and good luck at the races! — JG
