There are a handful of interesting betting opportunities on this week’s national stakes schedule, ranging from a pair of graded events at Laurel Park in Maryland to the Royal Delta Stakes (G2)–named for the the late champion racemare–in South Florida.
The Charles Fipke homebred Verve’s Tale (7-2 morning line) should be a playable overlay in Gulfstream Park’s $200,000 Royal Delta Stakes (G2), a race with a compact field that features a pair of entrants–Curlin’s Approval and Eskenformoney–that will get hammered at the windows.
New York shippers figure to have a say in the outcome of both graded stakes races on the card at Laurel Park on Saturday, as the bay mare High Ridge Road (5-2 morning line) rates a slight edge to keep her undefeated record at Laurel intact in the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie (G2) for trainer Linda Rice, and the Queens, New York invader Stallwalkin’ Dude gets a favorable pace setup for his closing move in the $250,000 General George (G3).
I’ll provide FREE selections and analysis for a pair of graded stakes races from Oaklawn Park on Monday, February 20–President’s Day– as the Hot Springs, Arkansas oval will play host to the Razorback Handicap (G3) and the Southwest Stakes (G3).
