The Green Sheet was all around a live Pick 4 ticket last weekend that paid $534.40 for the 50-cent variety at Fair Grounds, as top selection Honorable Duty ($12.40) won the Mineshaft Handicap (G3), Farrell ($9.60) won the Rachel Alexandra (G2) and Girvin ($18.20) upset the Risen Star (G2). The horse I liked the most in the sequence, Western Reserve in the Fair Grounds Handicap (G3), was a disappointing late scratch.
I feel equally confident about this week’s FREE late Pick 4 ticket that I’ve ironed out for today at Gulfstream Park, an all graded stakes sequence that is highlighted by the Xpressbet Fountain Of Youth (G2) and a $600,000-guaranteed pool.
I’ll go four deep in the opening leg–the Davona Dale (G3)–with Summer Luck (10-1), Pretty City Dancer (7-2), Miss Sky Warrior (5-2), and Brahms Cat (15-1), as well as the second leg–the Canadian Turf (G3)–with Giant Run (10-1), Heart To Heart (2-1), Bondurant (12-1), and Projected (GB) at 3-1 on the morning line. I’ll single Wake Forest (GER) in the Mac Diarmida (G2) and use three horses–Gunnevera (7-2), Practical Joke (3-1), and Irish War Cry (5-2) in the Fountain Of Youth (G2). The ticket looks like this: $1 pick 4, part-wheel: 1,7,12,13/2,3,4,6/4/2,6,8 for a cost of $48 ($1x 4x4x1x3=$48).
Additionally, I have bonus coverage of tonight’s John Battaglia Memorial Stakes from Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky. The bay colt Hot Dad figures as a mild overlay and will be competitive if he handles the Polytrack surface.
Next weekend, I’ll focus on four stakes races–the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap (G1), the $400,000 Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1T), the $400,000 San Felipe Stakes (G2), and the $400,000 Triple Bend Stakes (G1)–from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, in addition to three black-type heats–the $350,000 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby (G2), the $200,000 Hillsborough Stakes (G2T), and the $200,000 Florida Oaks (G3T)–from Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar, Florida.
