Keeneland Race Course will brace for unseasonably cool weather when the venerable Lexington, Kentucky oval kicks off its 2017 Spring Meeting on Friday, April 7, as expected high temperatures in the mid 50’s with winds gusting from 20-30 miles per hour will lend  to crisp environs.

Friday’s 10-race program is highlighted by the 29th running of the $150,000 Transylvania Stakes Presented by Keeneland Select (G3T) for three-year-olds going a mile and a sixteenth on the grass. The race attracted a competitive field led by last year’s Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) winner Oscar Performance, who will make his sophomore debut breaking from  post four in the nine horse field. The recent grade three stakes winner Ticonderoga, a regally-bred Tapit colt out of the multiple turf stakes winning mare Keertana, figures as the primary adversary.

I’ll have FREE full-card analysis and selections for Saturday’s stakes-laden Blue Grass Day Keeneland card in addition to bonus coverage of the $750,000 Wood Memorial (G1) from Aqueduct and the $1,000,000 Santa Anita Derby (G1) from Arcadia, California up on the site 24 hours in advance.
