Keeneland’s April 12 program jumpstarts live racing in Lexington, Kentucky which will be reduced to four days this week, as the track will be, per tradition, dark on Easter Sunday.
The featured fifth race on Wednesday’s eight-race card is a competitive $62,000 optional claiming/second-tier allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward to be contested on the main track going a mile and a sixteenth.
The race drew a field of nine including 3-1 morning line favorite Walkabout, a four-year-old Stroll filly trained by Ian Wilkes that will be making her seasonal debut off a third-place finish in last November’s Fall’s City Handicap (G2) at Churchill Downs. Twirl Girl, who is undefeated on dirt at Keeneland, four-time winner Factory of Faith and the lightly-raced, unbeaten filly Longwing Lily also figure to have a say in the outcome.
Post time for the first of eight races on Wednesday at Keeneland is 1:05 P.M. Eastern.
