This weekend’s racing at Keeneland will be mired by a spate of inclement weather passing through the Lexington, Kentucky area, as wet, cloudy conditions with high temperatures in the low 50’s will dampen the activities on Saturday’s card. With a gusting northeast wind at 15 miles per hour, it will feel more like fall than spring this afternoon.
The 10-race Saturday card offers a healthy Pick 6 carryover of $24,976 and is highlighted by the 32nd running of the $250,000 Dixiana Elkhorn Stakes (G2T), which will be contested over a forgiving turf course at a marathon mile and a half trip.
The lukewarm 7-2 morning line favorite in a field that was scratched down to nine runners is Three Diamonds Farm’s Bigger Picture, a 12-furlong grass specialist for trainer Mike Maker that just missed winning the Sycamore Handicap (G3T) over a course listed as “good” at Keeneland last fall.
