Kentucky Derby 143 Advance Graded Line
Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: May 2, 2017
Derby Week 2017 begins in earnest under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs on Tuesday, May 2nd with a nine-race program highlighted by the featured eighth race on the card, an $80,000 optional claiming/third-tier allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward going six-furlongs on the main track.
Fred M. Allor’s Crooked Stick, who will be making her first start for trainer Brian Lynch, has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite in a compact, albeit well-matched field of six. The homebred daughter of Blame will break from post four; jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. has the call.
The Green Sheet touted a pair of winners on Saturday night’s 11-race program at Churchill and had a $148 trifecta in the eighth race on the card in addition to a healthy $421 tri in the featured William Walker Stakes.
Post time at Churchill Downs for the first of nine races on the Tuesday, May 2nd program is 12:40 P.M. Eastern. The card has a Pick 6 carryover of $6,273.69.
