Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Thursday, May 4, 2017

Inclement weather will dampen the track but not the spirits at Churchill Downs on Thursday, May 4, a day affectionately known as “Thurby” to the local Louisville contingency.

The 11-race program is highlighted by a pair of stakes races–the $65,000 Opening Verse, an overnight stakes for three-year-olds and upward to be contested at a mile trip on the Matt Winn Turf Course–and the $100,000 Kentucky Juvenile Stakes for two-year-olds going five-furlongs on the main track.

The Green Sheet gave out a pair of winners on Wednesday’s 10-race program at Churchill Downs, highlighted by Lieutenant Seany O’s ($21.20) game win in the eighth race on the card at 9-1. Additionally, The Sheet nailed down a $318 trifecta in yesterday’s nightcap. Three days into the nascent meet, The Sheet is giving out winners at a 30 percent strike rate; its’ top selection in each race is finishing in the money 63 percent of time.

Post time at Churchill Downs for the first of 11 races on the Thursday, May 4th program is 12:45 P.M. Eastern. The card has a 20 cent Pick Six Jackpot carryover of $16,012.
