Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Friday, May 5, 2017
Churchill Downs will play host to throngs of Thoroughbred racing fans despite dank Spring weather conditions in the Bluegrass State on Friday, May 5, as the venerable Louisville, Kentucky racetrack offers a 13-race bonanza program highlighted by the 143rd running of the $1,000,000 Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1).
In addition to the Oaks, there are five other supporting stakes on the card–the $300,000 La Troienne (G1) presented by Spirited Funds, the $400,000 Alysheba Stakes (G2) presented by Big Fish Casino, the $150,000 Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G3T) presented by Twinspires.com, the $200,000 Eight Belles Stakes (G2) presented by Kentucky Trailer and the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes (G3T) presented by Forcht Bank.
The Green Sheet gave out a pair of winners on Thursday’s 11-race program at Churchill Downs along with four seconds. Additionally, The Sheet nailed down a $295 trifecta in the sixth race on the card. Four days into the nascent meet, The Sheet is giving out winners at a 27 percent strike rate; its’ top selection in each race is finishing in the money 66 percent of time.
Post time at Churchill Downs for the first of 13 races on the Friday, May 5th Kentucky Oaks program is 10:30 A.M. Eastern. The card has a 20 cent Pick Six Jackpot carryover of $26,116.
