Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Sunday, May 14, 2017
The Mother’s Day program at Churchill Downs on Sunday, May 14th offers a 10-race card with the ninth race–an $80,000 optional claiming/”three other than” allowance affair to be contested at a mile and a sixteenth trip on the Matt Winn Turf Course–slated as the day’s featured event.
The field drew a well-matched field of seven fillies and mares headlined by the 5-2 morning line favorite Sky My Sky, a Bernardini filly trained by Mark Casse that split a field of 10 in a minor stakes at Laurel Park on “yielding” turf in her last start on April 22nd. The consistent Queenofthepalace (NZ) and a pair of uncoupled entrants trained by Wesley Ward–Mo Knows and Celestial Insight–are others in with a chance.
The Green Sheet had one winner, a second and five thirds with its’ top selections on Saturday’s program in Louisville. Additionally, The Sheet gave out a $104 trifecta in the seventh race on the card. Nine days into the meet, The Sheet is giving out FREE winners at a 21 percent clip with its’ top selection in each race finishing in the money 54 percent of time.
Post time at Churchill Downs for the first of 10 races on the Sunday, May 14th program is 12:45 P.M. Eastern. The card offers a $20,219 carryover in the $1 Super High Five and a $14,761 carryover in the 20-cent Single 6. Furthermore, Churchill Downs will offer free general admission for all Moms when accompanied by her child; a Mother’s Day brunch is available on the premises.
