Churchill Downs will close the curtain on another live racing week on Sunday, June 4 with a nine-race program highlighted by the nightcap, a $53,000 high-end optional claiming/second-tier allowance affair to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the Matt Winn Turf Course.
Marc Detampel’s Western Reserve is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the field of 12 older colts and geldings, but the stakes-winning dark bay son of Indian Charlie figures to get a stiff challenge from Live Oak Plantation’s Speight Swiftly, a lightly-raced, undefeated son of Speightstown that has been installed as the 5-2 second choice.
The Green Sheet touted four winners on Saturday’s 11-race program in Louisville and gave out a healthy $395 trifecta in the third on the card. 22 days into the meet, The Sheet is giving out FREE winners at a 29 percent clip with its’ top selection in each race finishing in the money 63 percent of time.
Post time for the first of nine races on the Sunday, June 4 program at Churchill Downs is 12:45 P.M. Eastern. The card has a carryover of $36,073 in the 20-cent Pick 6 Jackpot and a $38,989 carryover in the $1 Super Hi-5.
