Belmont Stakes Analysis & Graded Line by The Green Sheet
Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Saturday, June 10, 2017
The featured tenth race on the Belmont Day card at Churchill Downs drew an interesting mix of seven older fillies and mares highlighted by the 7-5 morning line favorite Believe In Bertie in the 41st running of the $100,000 Old Forester Mint Julep Handicap (G3T).
A four-year-old daughter of Langfuhr, Believe In Bertie is a multiple stakes winner on the grass for trainer Brad Cox and is coming off a strong second-place performance in the Distaff Turf Mile (G2T) over the Matt Winn Turf Course on Derby Day, but she will face competition from Linda, winner of the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2T) at Churchill last fall, and the South American raider Dona Bruja (Arg), who annexed the Copa de Plata Mansilla International (Gr. 1)–the equivalent of the Kentucky Oaks (G1) in Argentina–in her last start and a winner of eight-of-10 lifetime outings.
The Green Sheet had a pair of wins on Friday’s program in Louisville and 25 days into the meet, The Sheet is giving out FREE winners at a 28 percent clip with its’ top selection in each race finishing in the money 62 percent of time.
