Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Thursday, June 22. 2017
The featured seventh race on the “Twilight Thursday” program at Churchill Downs on June 22 is a contentious $57,500 “two other than allowance”/$62,500 optional claiming event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward that offers a wide-range of wagering opportunities.
The formidable Adele Dilschneider/Claiborne Farm coupled entry of Care, a bay Trappe Shot filly trained by Al Stall, Jr., and Sentence, a Blame filly trained by Tom Drury, has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite. The latter is the stronger half of the entry, as the bay took to a “wet-fast” track and steamrolled “a other than” allowance foes in impressive fashion by open lengths on May 21 in Louisville. She will step up in class to tackle “two other than” foes for the first time in this spot.
Doxology, a mud-loving Songandaprayer filly; Fuhriously Kissed, who will make her first start for Ian Wilkes with first-time Lasix; and Starlight Express, a winner of two of her past three dirt starts, all figure to have a say in the outcome.
The Green Sheet doped out a $156 exacta in the fourth race on Sunday’s program in Louisville and 31 days into the meet, The Sheet is hitting at a win clip of 26 percent; its’ top selection in each race has finished in the money 63 percent of time.
Post time for the first of eight races on the Thursday, June 22 “Twilight Thursday” program at Churchill Downs is 5:00 P.M. Eastern. The card has a 16-day carryover of $112,293 in the 20-cent Single 6 Jackpot and a $1,849, one-day carryover in the $1 Super Hi-5.
