Ellis Park Full-Card Analysis & Selections: Saturday, July 8, 2017
The Saturday, July 8 program at Ellis Park is highlighted by the 13th running of the $50,000 Ellis Park Turf Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward to be contested at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf.
The race attracted a competitive, full-field of 12 with two also-eligibles led by Calumet Farm’s 3-1 morning line favorite Susie Bee, who is coming off a restricted stakes win at Gulfstream Park on May 27 for trainer Mike Maker. The gray daughter of English Channel will break from post position three; jockey Alonso Quinonez has the call.
The Green Sheet gave out a pair of winners on Friday’s eight-race program in Henderson in addition to a $218 trifecta in the fourth race on the card. On the day, however, The Sheet had a negative 43 percent return on investment (ROI)*, or a flat-bet loss of 86 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections.
Five days into the meet, The Sheet is winning at a 26 percent clip–its top selection in each race has finished in the money 58 percent of time.
