Ellis Park Full-Card Analysis & Selections: Sunday, July 9, 2017
The live racing week at Ellis Park comes to a close with a nine-race program on tap on Sunday, July 9 with a wide open $40,000 maiden allowance affair for two-year-old fillies going five and a half-furlongs on the turf slated as the featured eighth race on the card.
Michael P. Cloonan and Greco Racing Stable’s Emerald Candy, a first-time starter by Sidney’s Candy out of the Gilded Time mare Emerald Gal, rates a slight edge in this turf sprint for trainer Ingrid Mason, as she’s a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes winning sprinter Sarah Sis, who was also trained by Mason, an earner of over $900,000 lifetime. She will break from post four for an outfit that wins at a high percentage with its debut runners; jockey Jack Gilligan has the call.
The Green Sheet gave out four winners on Saturday’s nine-race program in Henderson in addition to a $198 trifecta in the third race on the card. On the day, The Sheet had a positive 31 percent return on investment (ROI)*, or a flat-bet profit of 62 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections.
Six days into the meet, The Sheet is winning at a 29 percent clip–its top selection in each race has finished in the money 63 percent of time.
