148th Travers Stakes (G1) Graded Line By The Green Sheet
The Green Sheet has expanded its handicapping coverage this summer, as Frank Lyons–Breeder’s Cup winning trainer and former on-air personality with Television Games Network (TVG)–has signed on to give his selections for the 2017 meet at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York.
In addition to a multi-year stint as a host and racing analyst on TVG, Lyons saddled 1995 Breeder’s Cup Sprint (G1) winner Desert Stormer. He also bought and campaigned Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Castledale. He’s currently a bloodstock agent and the host of a weekly radio show in Lexington, Kentucky.
Saturday, August 26th is Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course with a star-studded 13-race program on the docket including seven stakes races–the $700,000 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1), the $500,000 Ketel One Ballerina Stakes (G1), the $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1), the $600,000 Forego Stakes (G1), the $1,000,000 Sword Dancer Stakes (G1T), the $1,250,000 Travers Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1), and the $400,000 Woodford Reserve Ballston Spa Stakes (G2T).
