Churchill Downs Selections by John M. Gaver III: Saturday, September 23, 2017
“Downs After Dark” returns to Churchill Downs on Saturday, September 23 with a later 6:00 P.M. (Eastern) first post and an 11-race program on tap highlighted by a pair of black-type events–the $100,000 Dogwood Stakes for three-year-old fillies going seven-furlongs on the main track, and the $100,000 President of the United Arab Emirates Cup (G1) for Arabians four-years-old and upward going a mile and a sixteenth trip on dirt.
The program also has a $22,998 carryover in the 20-cent Pick 6 Jackpot.
Churchill will host live Thoroughbred racing over three weekends in September and October through Sunday, October 1 with racing on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Post time is 12:45 P.M. (Eastern) with the exception of a 5:00 P.M. “Twilight Thursday” program on September 29, and a 6:00 P.M. first post on Saturday, September 23.
The Green Sheet doped out three winners on Friday’s 10-race program in Louisville and gave out a $1,274 superfecta and a $684 trifecta in the ninth race on the card, in addition to a $196 trifecta in the third race. Five days into Churchill’s 11-day September Meet, The Sheet is hitting at a 33 percent strike rate; its top selections have finished in the money 57 percent of the time.

For the meet to date, The Sheet has a positive 27 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of 55 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections.
