Churchill Downs Selections by John M. Gaver III: Friday, September 29, 2017

The final live Thoroughbred racing weekend of September continues at Churchill Downs on Friday, September 29 with a 10-race program in the offing highlighted by the featured ninth race on the card–a $75,000 optional claiming/entry-level allowance race for two-year-olds going a flat mile trip on the Matt Winn Turf Course.

Friday’s program also has a seven-day, $42,853 carryover in the 20-cent Single 6 Jackpot, and a three-day, $5,789 carryover in the $1 Super Hi-5.

The Green Sheet had three winners on Thursday’s eight-race program in Louisville and gave out a $309 trifecta in eighth race on the card. Eight days into Churchill’s 11-day September Meet, The Sheet is hitting at a 31 percent strike rate; its top selections have finished in the money 58 percent of the time.
