Keeneland Race Course will hit the ground running when it commences its 2017 Fall Meet with “Fall Stars Weekend”, a three-day black type smorgasbord featuring nine graded stakes races–five of which are grade one affairs–and stakes purse money totaling $3.75 million taking place on October 6-8. Eight “Fall Stars” stakes are Breeder’s Cup Challenge races, the final opportunity for many horses to earn a berth into the Breeder’s Cup on November 3-4 at Del Mar.
The Friday, October 6 opening day program at Keeneland has 10 races on tap highlighted by the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1), for two-year-old fillies going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track, and the $250,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2), for three-year-olds and upward going six-furlongs on dirt.
The Green Sheet gave out three winners on Sunday’s 10-race, closing day program at Churchill Downs and had a cold $116 superfecta in the third race on the card.
For the 2017 Churchill Downs September Meet, The Sheet went went 34-for-109 for a 31 percent strike rate and had a positive 17 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of 33 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections. At the stand, The Sheet’s picks finished in the money 56 percent of the time
