Keeneland Selections by John M. Gaver III: Wednesday, October 11, 2017
It will be a soggy beginning for the 2017 Fall Meet’s first full-week of live Thoroughbred racing at Keeneland Race Course, as a “sloppy” main track and a “soft” turf course will be in play for Wednesday’s eight-race program at the historic Lexington, Ky. oval.
The program is highlighted by the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes (G3T), which, as of this writing, was still on a turf course listed as “soft” by Keenland track officials. Races one and five on the card have been taken off the turf and will be contested on the main track. Note that the first race on the card will be run at a one and five-eighths of a mile trip, not a mile and a half.

Wednesday’s Keeneland program also has a $2,527 carryover in the Super High Five.
The Green Sheet gave out two winners on Sunday’s program at Keeneland, had a $453 superfecta and a $288 trifecta in the second race on the card, and a beefy $752 super in the fifth. Three days into the 2017 Fall Meet, The Sheet is hitting at a 20 percent strike rate; its top selections have finished in the money 43 percent of the time.
