The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, California is a deserved first-time host for the 34th renewal of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, and the first of a two-day extravaganza of grade one Thoroughbred racing gets rolling on Friday, November 3 where “the turf meets the surf.”
Four races encompass the opening day Breeders’ Cup Word Championship program–the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T), the $1,000,000 Las Vegas Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T), and the $2,000,000 Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1).
Post time for the the first Breeders’ Cup race–the sixth race on Friday’s Del Mar program–is 2:25 P.M. (Pacific). The program features an all-Breeders’ Cup Pick 4 on races 6-9 with a $1.5 million guaranteed minimum pool.
