Gulfstream Park Selections by John M. Gaver III: Monday, January 1, 2018

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. rings in the New Year with an 11-race program highlighted by two black type affairs– the $75,000 Abundantia Stakes for fillies and mares four-years-old and upward, and the $75,000 Janus Stakes for four-year-olds and upward. Both stakes will be contested at five-furlong trips on the turf.

Additionally, the program has a mammoth $712,978 carryover in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Jackpot (races 6-11).

The Green Sheet had four winners on Sunday’s 11-race New Year’s Eve program at Gulfstream and, on the day, had a positive 70 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of $1.40 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections.

22 days into the Championship Meet in Hallandale Beach, The Sheet is hitting at a 29 percent strike rate; its top selections have finished in the money 57 percent of the time.

*Return on investment is calculated by placing a hypothetical $2 win wager on all top selections and dividing the net profit by the total amount wagered.
