An excellent 11-race program with Breeder’s Cup implications aplenty is on tap for the final “Downs After Dark” of the 2018 Spring Meeting at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, June 16.
The card, which has a later-than-the-norm post time of 6:00 P.M. (Eastern), is highlighted by five stakes races–the 21st edition of the $100,000 Matt Winn Stakes (G3), the 29th running of the $200,000 Wise Dan Stakes (G2T), the 43rd renewal of the $200,000 Fleur de Lis Handicap Presented by Budweiser (G2), the 37th edition of the $500,000 Stephen Foster Handicap Presented by GE Appliances (G1), and the 49th running of the $100,000 Regret Stakes Presented by Caritas (G3T).
Furthermore, the first 5,000 patrons to enter the Paddock and VIP Gate will receive a free poster commemorating Justify’s Triple Crown win. Fans will also have an opportunity to meet the colt’s connections (following the third race), see the son of Scat Daddy make an appearance on the racetrack and in the paddock (6:45-7:15 P.M. Eastern), and have a photo-op with this year’s Kentucky Derby Trophy (5:00-6:30 P.M. Eastern).
Steam touted two winners on Friday’s nine-race program at Churchill Downs and 29 days into the 2018 spring stand in Louisville, is giving out winners at a 21 percent clip; its top selections have finished in the money 58 percent of the time.
