Steam’s FREE Spotlight Play of the Day for: Ellis Park, Friday, July 6, 2018

steam_ellis_logoWith comparatively cooler temperatures in the forecast in the Tri-State area, Ellis Park will welcome a respite from searing heat that forced an early cancellation of the July 5 card, as the Henderson, Ky. oval resumes live Thoroughbred racing on Friday, July 6 with an eight-race program.

The featured seventh on the card is a $40,000 optional claiming/”money-since” allowance affair for three-year-olds and upward going eight-furlongs on the turf.

Michael Dubb, Head of Plains Partners, LLC, Madaket Stables, LLC, and Bethlehem Stables, LLC’s Saham, a six-year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid who will try to get his picture taken for the first time in nearly three years, is the 9-5 morning line choice in the field of eight. Jockey Declan Cannon has the call for trainer Brendan Walsh.

Three days into the nascent 2018 summer stand at Ellis Park, Steam is hitting at an 27 percent win clip; its top selections have finished in the money 73 percent of the time. In 2017, Steam compiled a record of 256-68-49-52 in Henderson with a top-pick win percentage of 27 percent and an in-the-money ratio of 66 percent.

Post time for the first of eight races is 12:50 P.M. (Central).
