Juveniles In Spotlight In Final Two Stakes Races Of 2018 Meet
A customary nine-race Sunday card on August 19 at Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky. closes out yet another weekend of live Thoroughbred racing in the Tri-State Area.
The program features a pair of black type affairs for juveniles–the $75,000 Ellis Park Debutante for two-year-old fillies, and the $75,000 Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes for two-year-olds. Both heats will be contested at seven-furlong trips on the main track.
Joel Politi’s Serengeti Empres is the tepid 3-1 morning line favorite for the Debutante. Corey Lanerie will be aboard the daughter of Alternation for trainer Tom Amoss.
Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing’s Whiskey Echo is the definitive 9-5 choice for the Juvenile. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan has the call on the son of Tiznow for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Steam Hits $166 Late Pick 4 On $24 Ticket On Saturday At Ellis Park
Steam gave out two winners on Saturday’s nine-race program at Ellis Park and, in addition, touted a $24 Late Pick 4 ticket that returned $166. As a result, 23 days into the 2018 stand at the “Pea Patch”, Steam is giving out winners at a 27 percent clip. Furthermore, its top selections have finished in the money 64 percent of the time.
