The penultimate week of the 2018 race meet at Ellis Park commences on Friday, August 24 with a eight-race program on tap at the Henderson, Ky. oval.

The card is highlighted by a pair of allowance races including the featured fourth on the program, a $40,000 optional claiming, “money since” event for fillies and mares sprinting five and one half-furlongs on turf.

G. Watts Humphrey, Jr.’s  Pastime, a four-year-old daughter of Lonhro (Aus), is the 2-1 morning line choice in a field of eight that also includes one main track only entrant. Apprentice jockey Edgar Morales has the call for trainer Victoria Oliver.

Other contenders inlcude Don Alberto Stable’s Salten Sapity, a chestnut dsaughter of Congrats trained by Brad Cox, and Karen Schaeffer’s Goldberry, a handy War Chant filly conditioned by Marco Castaneda.

Four Wins, Positive 40 Percent ROI On August 19 Card

Steam touted four winners on Sunday’s nine-race card at Ellis Park and, as a result, on the day had a positive 40 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of 80 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections on the card.

Additionally, 24 days into the 2018 summer stand at the “Pea Patch”, Steam sports a win clip of 28 percent; its top selections have an in the money ratio of 64 percent.
