Kentucky Downs kicks off its brief, albeit lucrative, five-day meeting on Saturday, September 1–Labor Day weekend– in Franklin, Ky. with a 10-race, all turf program.

The card is highlighted by four stakes races–the $250,000 One Dreamer Stakes, the $750,000 Tourist Mile, the $400,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes, and the $400,000 Exacta Systems Juvenile Fillies Stakes.

Flurry Racing Stable’s Mr. Misunderstood is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the day’s feature–the Tourist Mile. Jockey Florent Geroux has the call for trainer Brad Cox.

Leparoux, Maker, Ramsey’s Back To Defend Titles

Ken and Sarah Ramsey–Kentucky Downs’ all-time leading owner by wins–will try to annex their seventh consecutive owner’s title and ninth overall at the track.

Additionally, Jockey Julien Leparoux, last year’s leading rider at the meet with six wins, and Mike Maker, the leading trainer for the past three years, will both be back to defend their respective titles in 2018.

$10 Million In Purses Up For Grabs At Meet

steam_ky_downs_logoKentucky Downs offers $10 million in purses and supplements over its five day meet to be conducted on September 1, 6, 8, 9, and 13. Furthermore, the track cut its takeout rate on Pick 4 wagers in 2018 from 19 to 14 percent.
