Franklin, Kentucky updated forecast
As a result of an abundance of rain in the Franklin, Ky. area, the Sunday, September 9 program at Kentucky Downs–an all-turf race course–has been cancelled. The 10-race card has been moved to Wednesday, September 12.
“We felt it wasn’t going to be safe for our riders and horses, and safety is our number one priority,” said Ted Nicholson, Kentucky Downs’ senior vice president and general manager, in a release.
According to Barbara Borden, chief state steward for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, there will be no re-draw of Sunday’s card. A new scratch time will be announced.
Patrons with reserved seating tickets for the cancelled program will be refunded if they are unable to attend Wednesday’s races.
