Sloppy Conditions, Off The Turf On Thursday
A 10-race program is on the docket at Churchill Downs on Thursday, November 15. Due due cold overnight rains and early morning icing in Louisville, Ky., the card will be devoid of turf racing and will be contested on the main track under “sloppy” conditions.
The featured third race on the program is a $100,000 optional claiming, classified allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward. Originally scheduled for the main track, the race has been taken off the grass and will be run at a one-turn mile trip on the main track.
Hope H. Jones’ Party Boat, a minor stakes winner in the slop at Monmouth Park back in May, is the 2-1 morning line favorite in a compact field that was scratched down to five entrants. Julien Leparoux has the call on the four-year-old daughter of Into Mischief for trainer Graham Motion.
