An 11-race program is on the docket at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. on Sunday, December 23, completing yet another week of live Thoroughbred racing in South Florida.

A pair of $75,000 optional claiming, “a other than” allowance events are the standout races on the day.

The third on the program is a one-mile test for two-year-olds that marks the return of Federal Case, $650,000 son of Gemologist, who will make his first start for trainer Todd Pletcher since being purchased by Robert and Lawana Low following his maiden win at Keeneland back in October. The bay colt will break from post three in the compact field of five; jockey John Velazquez has the call.

In the tenth race, an eight and one half-furlong turf affair, Marylou Whitney Stables, LLC’s Hard Legacy, who broke her maiden on debut by an impressive seven lengths on grass at Keeneland, is the 9-5 morning line choice in the field of 10. Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the daughter of Hard Spun for trainer Norm Casse.
