Five stakes races worth over $2.5 million in purse money is on tap at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday, April 6–Toyota Blue Grass Stakes Day at the venerable Central Kentucky racetrack.

The four supporting black type events on the excellent 11-race card include the $250,000 Commonwealth Stakes for four-year-olds and upward going seven-furlongs on the main track, the $200,000 Shakertown Stakes for three-year-olds and upward going five and one half-furlongs on the Haggin Turf Course, the $300,000 Madison Stakes (G1) for fillies and mares four-years-old and upward slated for a seven-furlong trip on dirt, and the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland Stakes (G1) for three-year-old fillies going eight and one half-furlongs on the main track.

The centerpiece on the program is the 95th renewal of the $1,000,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2), a nine-furlong dirt test for three-year-olds. Gatsas Stable, LLC and R. A. Hill Stables’ Vekoma, who is coming off a third-place finish in the Xpressbet Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park on March 2, is the 9-5 morning line favorite in a full field of 14. Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano has the call on the son of Candy Ride (Arg) for trainer George Weaver.

Steam Has Six Wins, +19% ROI On Friday’s Card

blue_grass_stakes_logoSteam gave out six winners on Friday’s 10-race program at Keeneland and, as a result, had a positive 19 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of 38 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections on the card.

Two days into the nascent 2019 Spring Meet in Central Kentucky, Steam‘s top picks are winning at a 44 percent clip and have finished in the money 78 percent of the time.

Post time for the first of 11 races at Keeneland Race Course on Saturday, April 6 is 1:05 P.M. (Eastern). Additionally, there is a guaranteed pool of $300,000 Presented by TVG in the 50-cent All Stakes Pick 5 (races 6-10, 4:00 P.M. (Eastern) post), and a guaranteed pool of $400,000, also Presented by TVG, in the 50-cent All Stakes Pick 4 (races 7-10, 4:35 P.M. (Eastern) post).
