Champions Day Presented by TwinSpires jump starts Kentucky Derby week 2019 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. on Tuesday, April 30.

The featured seventh race on the nine-race card is the $115,000 Champions Day Marathon Overnight Stakes Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance for three-year-olds and upward slated for a 12-furlong trip on the main track.

Gary Barber, John C. Oxley, Ralph Kinder, and Erv Woolsey’s Lookin for Eight, a Grade 2 stakes winner at Woodbine, is the 5-2 morning line favorite in a compact field that attracted six entrants.

Jockey Jose Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the chestnut son of Lookin At Lucky for trainer Mark Casse.

Champions Day Returns To Churchill Downs

taa_logoChampions Day at Churchill Downs, which highlights the history and the sport of the Kentucky Derby, returns to Louisville, Ky. on Tuesday, April 30.

Thoroughbred racing fans will be able to meet legendary jockeys and trainers, gain insight into Derby Week wagering, and support Thoroughbred aftercare.

steam_derby_145_logoThe event highlights include a Triple Crown legends autograph session, a Derby Week handicapping seminar presented by Twinspires.com, a collectable poster signing to support Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, and a Triple Crown Vault photo opportunity presented by the Kentucky Derby Museum.

The activities will commence around the racetrack at 12:00 P.M. (Eastern) with the handicapping seminar and conclude with the Triple Crown vault photo-op at 3:30 P.M. (Eastern).

Post time for the first of nine races at Churchill Downs on Tuesday, April 30 is 12:45 P.M. (Eastern).
