Country House Wins 145th Kentucky Derby
Mrs. J. V. Shields, Jr., E. J. M. McFadden, and LNJ Foxwoods’ Country House was declared the winner of the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) on Saturday, May 4 in Louisville, Ky. after Maximum Security, who crossed the wire first, was disqualified for bearing out at the five-sixteenths pole and impeding other rivals. The Son of Lookin At Lucky, who went off at 65-1, was ridden to victory by Flavien Prat and gave Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott his first win the the storied Run for the Roses.
