Nine-Race Card Kicks Off Weekend At Churchill
Churchill Downs kicks off a weekend of live Thoroughbred racing in Louisville, Ky. with a customary nine-race card on the docket on Friday, May 10.
The featured first race on the program is a $100,000 optional claiming/classified allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward going eight and one half-furlongs on the Matt Winn Turf Course.
Evan, Matthew, and Andrew Trommer’s Princess Warrior, a Grade 2 stakes winner on grass under the Twin Spires, is the 7-5 morning line favorite in a compact, albeit well-matched, field of five. Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the four-year-old daughter of Midshipman for trainer Kenny McPeek.
