A nine-race program is on tap on Sunday, August 25 at Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky., closing the curtain on another weekend of live Thoroughbred action in the Tri-State Area.
The featured eighth race on the card is a $40,000 optional claiming, “money since” allowance affair for three-year-olds and upward sprinting five and one half-furlongs on the turf.
Tom R. Durant’s Lawton, who is coming off a second-place finish against $40,000 optional claiming, “two other than” company at Indiana Grand on July 2, is the 2-1 morning line favorite in a field that attracted seven entrants.
Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the five-year-old son of Archarcharch for trainer Bret Calhoun.
