Two Stakes In Spotlight On Closing Day

A 10-race card including a pair of black type affairs is on the docket at Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky. on Thursday, September 12–the fifth and final day of the 2019 all-turf meeting.

The $500,000 Nevada State Bank Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G3T) for three-year-olds going six and one half-furlongs, and the $500,000 Ramsey Farm Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward–slated for one and five-sixteenths miles–are the highlights on the program.

Ivan Rodriguez and Michelle and Albert Crawford’s Archidust is the 2-1 morning line choice in the Franklin-Simpson; jockey Javier Castellano will be astride the chestnut son of Verrazano for trainer Jorge Navarro.

In the Ramsey Farm Stakes, Morsches Stable’s Gentle Ruler, a four-year-old daughter of Colonel John who has won four of her past five starts, is the 5-2 morning line favorite. Chris Landeros has the call for trainer Ian Wilkes.

Steam Touts Six Winners On Sunday’s Program

Steam gave out six winners on Sunday’s 10-race program at Kentucky Downs and, as a result, had a positive 201 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of $4.10 for each two dollars wagered on its top selections on the card.

With one day remaining at Kentucky Downs’ 2019 meet, Steam’s top selections are winning at a 25 percent clip and have finished in the money 55 percent of the time.
