Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. kicks off its 17-day Fall race meeting on Friday, October 4 with the 2019 renewal of Fall Stars Weekend–10 stakes races worth $3.95 million over a three-day period, nine with Breeder’s Cup “Win And You’re In” implications for the upcoming Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 1-2 at Santa Anita in Arcadia, California.

The 10-race opening day card is highlighted by a pair of graded stakes events–the $250,000 Stoll, Keenon, Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2) for three-year-olds and upward sprinting six-furlongs on dirt, and the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades Stakes (G1) for two-year-old fillies slated for an eight and one half-furlong trip on the main track.

Robert J. Baron’s Promises Fulfilled, a four-year-old son of Shackleford, has been installed as the 3-1 morning line choice in the Phoenix Stakes (G2), which attracted a full field of 11 entrants. Jockey Luis Saez will be astride the chestnut colt for trainer Dale Romans.

In the Darley Alcibiades (G1), a two-turn test that attracted a sizable field of 11, Tracy Farmer’s Perfect Alibi, winner of the Spinaway Stakes (G1) at Saratoga, is the 5-2 morning line favorite. Jose Ortiz, Jr. has the riding assignment on the daughter of Sky Mesa for trainer Mark Casse.
