Turf Sprinter Showdown In Wednesday’s Feature

Gulfstream Park kicks off its first five-day racing week of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet with a customary 10-race program on the agenda at the Hallandale Beach, Fla. racetrack.
The sixth race on the card–the nominal feature–is a $47,000 first-tier allowance affair for three-year-olds and upward sprinting five-panels on the turf.
Melvin Simonovich’s Sturgeon, a five-time winner in 2019, is the 2-1 morning line favorite in a field that attracted eight entrants. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be astride the six-year-old bay son of Street Sense for trainer Jorge Delgado.
