Six stakes races worth over $500,000  are on tap at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. on Saturday, December 28, as the live Thoroughbred racing weekend steams ahead in South Florida.

The barrage of black-type events begins with the $100,000 Janus Stakes for three-year-olds and upward sprinting five-furlongs on the main track, and continues with the $100,000 Abundantia Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward going five panels on the main track; the $75,000 Tropical Park Oaks, for three-year-old fillies slated for an eight and one half-furlong trip on the weeds; the $75,000 Via Borghese Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward going one mile and three-sixteenths on the turf; the $100,000 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes for three-year-olds and upward slated for a mile and a quarter trip on the main track; and the $75,000 Tropical Park Derby for three-year-olds going eight and one half-furlongs on the Gulfstream weeds.

Steam Has Four-Bagger On Friday’s Program

Steam gave out four winners on Friday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park and, as a result, 20 days into the 2019-2020 Championship Meet in South Florida, its top picks are winning at 30 percent clip and have finished in the money 62 percent of the time.

Post time for the first of 11 races at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, December 28 is 12:00 P.M. (Eastern). Additionally, there is a $1,047,768 carryover and a $1,500,000 guaranteed pool in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Jackpot (races 6-11, 2:30 P.M. (Eastern) post time).
