Feature Goes Through Kitten’s Covergirl

Amid the public uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus disease), a customary five-day week of live Thoroughbred racing begins in South Florida on Wednesday, March 18 with a 10-race program on the docket at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.
The racetrack remains open to licensed personnel but is closed to the general public. Click here to view Gulfstream’s policy regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
The featured ninth race on the card is a $62,500 optional claiming, “two other than” allowance affair for fillies and mares four-years-old and upward slated for a five-furlong trip on the turf.
Robert J. Amendola’s Kitten’s Covergirl, a chestnut daughter of Kitten’s Joy, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a field that attracted seven entrants. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the five-year-old mare for trainer Jose Gallegos.
