Memorial Day weekend 2020 begins in earnest on Friday, May 22 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. with a 10-race program on the docket at the historic racetrack.

The featured ninth on the card is a $80,000 optional claiming, “three other than” allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward slated for an eight-furlong journey on the Matt Winn Turf Course.

Heider Family Stables, LLC and Madaket Stables, LLC, and Michael E. Kisber’s Malakeh (GB), who returns to the races off a nine-month hiatus, is the 5-2 morning line choice in a field that attracted 10 and four also-eligible entrants. Jockey John Velazquez has the call on the bay daughter of Harbour Watch (Ire) for trainer Graham Motion.

Four Winners, $2.32 ROI On Thursday’s Program

Steam gave out four winners on Thursday’s 10-race program at Churchill Downs and, as a result, had a positive 16 percent return on investment (ROI*), or a flat-bet profit of 32 cents for each two dollars wagered on its top selections on the card.

Three days into the nascent 2020 Spring Meet in Louisville, Ky., Steam‘s top picks are winning at a 34 percent clip and have finished in the money 63 percent of the time.
