Two Stakes Highlight Saturday’s Program

A pair of $100,000 stakes races–one on the dirt and one on the turf–are the highlights on an excellent 11-race program at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, May 30.
The Winning Colors Stakes (G3), a six-furlong dirt sprint for fillies and mares three-years-olds and upward, jump starts the late Pick 5 in the seventh race, and the Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes (G3T) for fillies and mares four-years-old and upward going eight and one half-furlongs on the Matt Winn Turf Course, closes out the card in the 11th race nightcap.
In the Winning Colors Stakes (G3), Stonestreet Stables, LLC’s Mia Mischief, a winner of her past three races, is the 8-5 morning line favorite in a field of nine. Ricardo Santana, Jr. will be astride the bay daughter of Into Mischief for trainer Steve Asmussen.
In the Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes (G3T), Juddmonte Farms, Inc.’s Juliet Foxtrot (GB), a game third in the Matriarch Stakes (G1T) at Del Mar when she was last seen at the races, is the 5-2 morning line choice in a deep field that attracted 14 entrants. Jockey Florent Geroux has the call on the bay daughter of Dansili (GB) for trainer Brad Cox.
