Keeneland Race Course closes out its 5-day summer meet on Sunday, July 12 with a nine-race program on the agenda at the historic Lexington, Ky. racetrack.

Two turf stakes races–the $100,000 Kentucky Utilities Transylvania Stakes (G3T) for three year-olds going eight and one half-furlongs on the Haggin Turf Course, and the $175,000 TVG Elkhorn Stakes (G2T), a 12-furlong turf test for four-year-olds and upward-anchor the closing day card.

In the Transylvania Stakes (G3T), Three Diamonds Farm’s Field Pass, a three-time stakes winner in 2020, is the 2-1 morning line choice in a field that attracted 11 entrants. Jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr. will be aboard the gray son of Lemon Drop Kid for trainer Mike Maker.

In the Elkhorn Stakes (G2T), Michael Hui’s Zulu Alpha, winner of the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes (G1T) at Gulfstream Park back in March, is the definitive 8-5 morning line favorite in a field that was scratched down to 11 entrants. Tyler Gaffalione will be astride the seven-year-old son of Street Cry (Ire) for trainer Mike Maker.

Steam Has Hat Trick On Blue Grass Day

kee_summer_meet_tileSteam gave out three winners on Saturday’s 10-race program at Keeneland and, as a result, heading into the final day of the 2020 summer stand in Central Kentucky, its top picks are winning at a 19 percent clip and have finished in the money 54 percent of the time.

Post time for the first of nine races at Keeneland on Sunday, July 12 is 1:05 P.M. (Eastern).

Due to ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the summer meet will be conducted without spectators.
