A pair of black type events for three-year-olds–the $500,000 Exacta Systems Dueling Grounds Oaks and the $500,000 Gun Runner Dueling Grounds Derby–anchor a 10-race program on day three of Kentucky Downs’ six-day boutique, all-turf meet in Franklin, Ky. on Thursday, September 10.

In the Dueling Grounds Oaks, for three-year-old fillies going a mile and five-sixteenths on the turf, the Estate of Harvey A. Clarke and Paul Braverman’s Harvey’s Lil Goil, a Grade 3 stakes winner on grass, is the definitive 9-5 morning line favorite in a field that attracted 12 horses in the race’s body in addition to three also-eligible entrants. Jose Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the gray daughter of American Pharoah for trainer Bill Mott.

In the Dueling Grounds Derby, for three-year-olds, also slated for a mile and five-sixteenths journey on the weeds, Ashbrook Farm and BBN Racing, LLC’s Bama Breeze is the 3-1 morning line choice in a full field of 12. Additionally, four also-eligible entrants will wait in the wings. Jockey Julien Leparoux will be astride the son of Honor Code for trainer Rusty Arnold.

First Post 12:15 P.M. (Central) On Thursday’s Card

Two days into the 2020 meet in Franklin, Ky., Steam‘s top picks are winning at a 15 percent clip and have finished in the money 40 percent of the time.
