A 10-race program including a graded stakes race is on the docket at Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky. on Wednesday, September 16–the sixth and final day of the 2020 all-turf meeting.
The featured ninth race on the program is the $500,000 Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G3T), a six and one half-furlong turf test for three-year-olds.
With the scratch of Kimari–who was third in Tuesday’s Music City Stakes–Paul Pompa, Jr.’s Turned Aside–winner of the Quick Call Stakes (G3T) at Saratoga on July 24–assumes the role of morning line favorite in a field that attracted 12 horses in the race’s body in addition to four also-eligible entrants. Jockey Jose Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the three-year-old bay son of American Pharoah for trainer Linda Rice.
