An excellent 11-race program is on tap at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. on Saturday, December 19, a card that features a pair of stakes–the $100,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3) for three-year-olds and upward slated for a seven-furlong trip on the main track, and the $100,000 Via Borghese Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and up slated for a mile and three-sixteenths journey on the turf.

Mr Amore Stable, LLC’s Firenze Fire–third in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Keeneland in his last start on November 7–is the 5-2 morning line favorite in the Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3), which attracted a full field of 12 entrants. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the five-year-old son of Poseidon’s Warrior for trainer Kelly Breen.

In the Via Borghese Stakes, Repole Stables’ Always Shopping, currently riding a two-race win streak in turf stakes, is the 5-2 choice on the morning line in a field of nine. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be astride the four-year-old bay daughter of Awesome Again or trainer Todd Pletcher.
