A 10-race card is in the offing at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday, January 6, as the historic Hallandale Beach racetrack begins a five-day week of live Thoroughbred racing in South Florida.

The featured ninth race on the program is a $25,000 optional claiming, “a other than” allowance contest for four-year-olds and upward going eight-furlongs around one-turn on the main track.

Town and Country Racing, LLC’s Sounion, second in his last start at Churchill Downs on November 15, is the 5-2 morning line choice in a field that attracted nine entrants. Jockey Julien Leparoux has the call on the gray son of Liam’s Map for trainer Brian Lynch.
